Flood Advisory Service at Supporting a Resilient Southwell

The Flood Advisory Service attended Supporting a Resilient Southwell event yesterday, 15th May, to offer local residents advice about flood mitigation.

The event, which was organised by Southwell Flood Forum, was well attended by local residents who came along to find out more about resilience.

We were joined on our stand by Anton from Flood Defence Solutions, who is a local Flood Professional.

At the event 30 people became flood wardens after completing their training with Nottinghamshire County Council, which involved a practical session on how to correctly place road closure signs.

Jacky Huson, secretary of Southwell Flood Forum, said: “It was a very successful day. Many people came from nearby villages such as Bleasby and Lowdham. It is important for people to be prepared, not just for flooding, but any emergency."

The forum also launched their Community Resilience Handbook, which offers residents advice on what to do in an emergency. The handbook will be delivered to every household in the area.
